it was cold. it was winter. it was the cold winter.

I ran today after work at 7pm. 13 mins, 1.5 miles, it was dark and 30 degrees outside. i had stiff legs at the start but felt great after a minute. After the run my legs are tired and I'm experiencing iloitibial band pain.

No running today.

Today I didn't run. I'm very disappointed but all the more motivated to find time tomorrow. Sara was very ill today and I insisted she rest while I watch Gabriella. In a few months this won't be a problem because I'll be able to take her in a jogging stroller.

Today's Run.

Today's run was a nice one.

I ran 2.5 miles down Grisby Chapel this evening around 5:30. It was the first decent length run I've had in a month. I ran for about 24 mins and with about 5 mins of stretching in the middle.

I worked today and ran around with Sara, Heather and Gabriella after work. At 2pm while at work I consumed a Neurofuel and while running around after work I consumed a grande coffee from Starbucks. It was about 35 degrees when I ran and it only took 5 mins for my lungs to recover after the run; this was very encouraging.

The Beginning

I will be describing my journey of juggling a new baby girl, a promotion, and preparing for the Charlottesville marathon on April 19th, 2009.

On December 23rd, 2008 my wife gave birth to our daughter Gabriella. The last two weeks seem to be only a few hours passed. I believe a little sleep deprivation is to blame for that along with having a few days off from work. I help manage a sporting apparel and accessory shop in Knoxville, TN by the name of Sport Seasons. I am hoping to be managing it very soon.

I took up running last spring in an attempt to rediscover my passion for sport. I grew up playing football, basketball, baseball, golf, and a little tennis. I haven't grouped myself with enough people to play the team sports and golf has just become to expensive to play regularly. I used to be an athlete, I used to proud of my level of fitness and being able to outrun everybody in my class. When all of this hit me last spring I took up running. An inexpensive activity that can be very rewarding even if one plays alone.

The more I type the more you'll see what running means to me. I am relatively inexperienced but I have high aspirations. Wish me luck.
